So recently the Writers Guild of America went on strike. I myself am totally in favor of the writers, because they are the creative minds behind our television shows, and with out them, we would be left with crappy reality TV shows like the Hills and Laguna Beach.
I recently had a discussion with someone over Myspace about the strike, and instead of re-writing it(because I am lazy), I'll just post it as it was written. I am not mad at the person who replied to my message. Now with saying that, here it is.

For the Writers Guild to get everything they want, and them some. So new episodes of "The Office", "Scrubs", and "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" can begin shooting again. If they don't then "Scrubs" will be off the air forever. And that is no good.

oh heck no
they want more money
and, as ridiculous as it is of me to say this considering what i want to be, the media does NOT need to pay their employees/members anymore...at ALL.
its disgusting how much money these people already make, and now they're striking for more...a freaking DOG in hollywood makes more money than a damn doctor, firefighter, or scientist. BRITTNEY SPEARS, who doesnt even DO ANYTHING, makes more money...
lol sorry for the vent. ic ould care less about the tv shows, i say pay our damn TEACHERS more...

Now you see I'm talking about the writers, who only get paid a very small amount ONCE for writing an episode. Every time someone buys a dvd of a TV show, the writers don't see a dime. Every time someone buys an episode off of iTunes, the writers don't see a dime. And every time someone watches an episode on the TV shows website (i.e. nbc.com, abc.com...), they don't see a dime. Even though the companies like NBC and ABC make Tons of money from all of those things. All the writer's guild wants is 11 cents from DVD sales. 11 CENTS!!! That is the only amount they want from dvd sales. From iTunes, on 3 cents. This is a very small amount. Sure, they make money from re-runs on TV shows, but did you know that lost is never re-run on TV. They only show re-runs online. Meaning the writers for a very successful television drama only get paid a small sum for 1 television airing. Their creation is seen among millions, over and over again and they don't get to see the profits. Writers are the most under paid for their positions. They do deserve money from DVD sales, iTunes sales, and online viewing. Considering that is where the future of entertainment is going.
Basically the fact is this. They are creating something for our enjoyment. And it would be totally unfair for them to not get compensated fairly.
